The Paul Phelps Continuing Education Grant

The 2012 Paul Phelps Continuing Education Grant will be awarded to two students attending the ICOPS special minicourse onPlasma Medicine and Plasma Healthcare.  The 11/2 day course will be offered on July 12-13, 2012 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) following ICOPS2012. 

This grant was established by the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS) to promote continuing education and encourage membership in the NPSS. This award will support two outstanding student member or unemployed member of the NPSS to attend the minicourse to aid in their future career or enable a career change. The award will consist of the prepayment of the ICOPS conference fee, the minicourse registration and the conference hotel room for the night of the minicourse.  No other travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Applicants must be either a Student Member of the IEEE or an unemployed IEEE NPSS member. Information on joining the IEEE as a Student Member or enrolling in NPSS can be found at www.ieee.org. The applicants must submit by June 1, 2012 to the minicourse organizers (Dr. Georg Isbary and Prof. M. Laroussi) a letter from them describing the career or career change they seek and an explanation of how attending this minicourse is expected to enable their career choice. The applicant must also include two support letters that document their contributions or exceptional abilities in an NPSS field that they are either working in or have worked in.
